UWF Design/Build/Fly

Engineering
We are a UWF mechanical engineering design team participating in AIAA's annual Design/Build/Fly competition, which challenges engineering students to design and build electric RC aircraft to successfully take off, land, and meet the requirements for various mission profiles. Our goal is to design and build a competitive aircraft that we can take to this year's competition, which will take place this April in Wichita, KS.

What inspired you to make this project?
We are all current/former members of UWF's SAE Aero design team. For our senior design project this year, we decided to participate in a different competition hosted by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) known as Design/Build/Fly, since some of us are officers for our University's club. We all have an interest in aerospace engineering and we wanted to continue on the fun challenge of designing and building a competitive electric RC aircraft that we hope to take to competition.
